Arugam Bay Beach
Arugam Bay is situated on the Indian Ocean in the dry zone of Sri Lanka south east coast. The bay is located 320 KM due east of Colombo. Arugam Bay is known as one of the best surfing spots in the world.
Panama Crocodile Tank
The Crocodile tank is popular crocodile viewing point. The surrounding paddy fields are naturally fertile and grow traditional varieties of paddy.
Panama Beach is one of the best known and most beloved beaches in the Sri Lanka. Panama Beach is very clean, blakish gray, sandy beaches, to participate in every imaginable water sport including scuba diving and fishing.
The Lahugala park is best known for its elephants: up to 150 congregate around the tank during July and August, The tank is also good for spotting a wide range of aquatic birds, including innumerable snowy white egrets that can often be seen hitching a ride on the backs of obliging elephants.
Okanda Devalaya Situated on the Kumana Panama jungle path Okanda Devalaya is believed to be the location God Skanda first sailed into Sri Lanka in a golden boat. Pilgrims from all parts of Sri Lanka, of varied faiths and cultures, seek grace at Okanda Rock Shrine, especially during its great festival in July.
Located within the northan part of the ruhunu national park and short distance from the eastern beach of Panama, Kudumbigala is a monastery of more than 200 cave accommodations.According to the historical facts, this monastery was built during the time of king Devanampiyatissa. This monastery is located close to several huge rock mountains and you will get one of unique experience there. Once you climb to the summit, you can see breath taking view of the surrounding including the Okanda beach.
Muhudu Maha Viharaya
The Muhudu Maha Viharaya situated near Pottuville is over 2,000 years old. As the legend and some folk stories Vihara Maha Devi has landed in this area. There are valuable relics around this area and lot of them have destroyed because of past war situations.
Whisky point is probably the most frequented surf point, Whiskey point is set on a wide beach with a set of boulders at its bend, providing ideal conditions for surfers of all abilities.
The Light House in Komari located 15 km north of Arugam Bay is an organic farm on an 8 acre property. It is one of the places in Sri Lanka to fall in love with as nature lover. The restaurant in the center is a meeting point for the ones who start feeling lonesome. On the property grows a variety of tropical fruit trees whose crops are used for preparing succulent juices.
The Crocodile Rock is 2km south of Arugam Point along another deserted beach to Kudakallliya. We can reach the rock by scrambling across the dunes & fording the lagoon. Its wild: eagles swoop overhead, elephants attempt to climb the rock. Look out, large mugger crocs creep in utter stealth. At the top, we will be rewarded for our efforts with magnificent views inland across the paddy fields & lagoon.
A walk to Elephant Rock, about 3km south of Arugam Bay provides an appreciation of the extent of the beautiful beaches. In the early morning or evening we will have the sight of elephants roaming nearby.
Magul Maha Viharaya
Magul Maha Viharaya is located by the Lahugla National Sanctuary in the Ampara District. Even Though most people believe that Princes Vihara Maha Devi ( mother of king Dutugemunu ) reach Kirinda, there are many evidence that real place is Muhudu Maha Viharaya in Potuvil. Magul maha Vihara complex extents towards large area and you can see many historical constructions belonging to 2nd century BC. At the entrance you can see large ponds constructed for the usage of monastery monks.
Peanut farm is the Counterpart to the excellent PottuVille Point, up market development which is located the same distance in the opposite, Northern direction from the centre of Arugam Bay.
